How to merge the Virtual Cockpit from another aircraft to the Thor's Hammer Rafale Beta --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Merging the FSX/Acceleration FA-18 Hornet VC... 1. Go to the "FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\FA-18\Model" folder and copy the "FA-18_Interior.mdl" file to the "FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\Rafale M 3x1275litres\model" folder. 2. Open the "model.cfg" in the "Rafale M 3x1275litres\model" folder and add the line 'interior=FA-18_Interior' (without the quote marks) 3. Copy all of the texture files from the "FA-18\Texture" folder (except the ones that start with "FA-18_Wing" and "FA-18_Main") to the "Rafale M 3x1275litres\texture" folder. 4. Copy the "panel.cfg" from the "FA-18\Panel" folder and paste it in the "Rafale M 3x1275litres\panel" folder, replacing the original one. All other variants of the Rafale are aliased to this particular model (Only the aircraft.cfg's differ to reflect the weight of each version) so you will only have to do steps 1-4 once. 5. In the "aircraft.cfg" of each variant, replace the [views] section with this: [Views] eyepoint= 11.524, -0.00, 3.246 zoom= .5 6. Go fly! (Thanks to "Ferry_v0" in the Sim-Outhouse.com forum for these instructions.) ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== NOTE: Using the FA-18 as above you will find a red/green NAV light in front of the nose wheel. Be adventurous (actually it's really easy but do keep a backup) and try this suggestion from "DaveWG": "You could also remove / rename the fx_navred.fx file in the effects folder. That would give the same result but you would only loose the default red nav light." and "papab" (Rick): "My own solution was to open the FA-18_Interior.mdl in notepad++ (not MS notepad) and search for fx_navred. I changed that to read fx_navrep and saved. No more floating red navlight & all the other lights work as they should." Using Notepad++ from here(free): http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Using that fix the red light is GONE! Make the change to the copy you put in the "\Rafale M 3x1275litres\model" folder, not the original. ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== Merging the Rollus13 Mirage 2000D VC (suggest reading above instructions first)... 1. Add the "mir2000d_interior.MDL" file to the "Rafale M 3x1275litres\model" folder 2. Add "interior=mir2000d_interior" to the "model.cfg" file 3. Copy the entire panel folder from the Rollus' Mirage 2000D and replaced the panel folder in the "Rafale M 3x1275l" folder 4. Copy the "texture.shared" folder from the Rollus Mirage 2000D and added it to the "Rafale M 3x1275l folder" and renamed it to "texture.VC" 5. Changed the [VIEWS] section in the "aircraft.cfg" to the Rollus' one [Views] eyepoint= 8.5, -0.00, 2.70 (Thanks to "Lateral-G" in the Sim-Outhouse.com forum for these instructions.) ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== Merging Dino's F35 VC in Thor's Rafale 1) Edit the Rafale model.cfg file like this: [models] normal=rafalem interior=..\..\F35A\model\JSF2 2) Inside each texture folder, update the texture.cfg like this: [fltsim] fallback.1=..\texture fallback.2=..\..\F35A\texture.clean 3) Copy the F35 panel folder to the Rafale folder 4) Update the view point in aircraft.cfg: eyepoint = 13.5, 0.0, 1.5 (Thanks to "vonstroheim" in the Sim-Outhouse.com forum for these instructions.) ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== ==================================================================================== A couple more adjustments from my own experience. 1) The eyepoint setting in the FA-18 example above is more for sitting on the ground but the Rafale has a raised nose it it won't be correct once in the air. So try this eyepoint setting to put the horizontal line of the HUD on the actual horizon (this is for the F-18 cockpit and best adjusted in flight over flat ocean). [Views] // eyepoint= 14.024, -0.00, 3.246 <-- default eyepoint= 11.524, -0.00, 3.546 zoom=.5 2) To get the nose gear to make contact with the ground make an adjustment in [contact_points] in the aircraft.cfg file. For "point.0" change point.0 = 1, 12.9, 0, -7.70, ... change to point.0 = 1, 12.9, 0, -7.58, ... 3) For more realistic ATC communications make this change under the [General] section near the top of the aircraft.cfg file. atc_type = Dassault atc_model = Rafale 4) When adding extra textures make sure the texture.cfg file in each texture folder points to the correct default folders and in the right order. [fltsim] fallback.1=..\..\Rafale M 3x1275litres\texture.1000HRS \\ 1st point to the new textures fallback.2=..\..\Rafale M 3x1275litres\texture \\ 2nd the default for cockpit textures fallback.3=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture fallback.4=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture --------------------------------------------- That's it.
